The cakes "Crespells" fillings with confiture, from Menorca, are pastries round-shaped and with tips, also rounded, all around the edge. Depending the town where they are elaborated, their appearance varies from one form shaped flower with between 8 and 12 petals to a more similar to biscuits "crespellines" with about 30 rounded tips. They are often sprinkled with icing sugar.

Formerly it was made ​​exclusively with pumpkin marmalade though, over time, were incorporated stuffed of other varieties of fruit jam, as well as almond, potato and even "Suquet" (meringue), cottage cheese or "sobrassada".

 

This variety has the stuffed of tart apple marmalade. The other ingredients are flour and lard, to which are added yeast, salt and sugar.

 

Are attributed Jewish origin, being related to unleavened pastries which were consumed during the Passover, symbolizing the unleavened bread. For this reason their consumption is traditional at Easter, but now can be found all year round in bakeries and pastry shops.
